A small grocery store developed into one of the leading spirit manufacturers in Germany. Liebl combines traditional craftsmanship with modern fermentation technology. While Bourbon whiskey from America writes with "e", the Scottish Scotch Whisky dispenses with these letters. Originally, European spelling was also common in Scotland, but to differentiate themselves more from the Scottish whiskies and because the Irish living in the US were big buyers, Irish distilleries began to add an "e". McConnell's does not use this "marketing trick" and looks back on its 125 year history and remains true to the traditional spelling!
The unique bottle design refers to the history of Irish whisky. The bottle of McConnell's Irish Whisky is recreated in the shape of a pill capsule, reminding that McConnell's was prescribed for medical purposes by doctors in earlier times. The metal plaque above the label refers to the founding of the brand by brothers John and James McConnell in 1776.
