The automatic white balance of digital cameras does not deliver optimal results in every light situation. In addition, daylight or artificial light presets are set to specific colour temperatures that often do not correspond to the actual conditions. In both cases, you get shots with an unsightly colour cast.
For this reason, you should always carry out a manual white balance, by matching the white balance of your camera exactly to the colour temperature of the ambient light. For this purpose, you take a format-filling reference shot of the white card on the basis of which the white balance of the camera is calibrated.
