The bamboo 'Great Wall' impresses as a particularly attractive variety that offers an impressive eye-catcher anywhere in the garden. Its decisive advantage is that it does not require a rhizome barrier, as it expands over time, but does not drive runners. An interesting detail not commonly known: the young shoots of the Fargesia nitida 'Great Wall' are edible. The plant is also very cut resistant and can therefore be easily shaped.
Preferably, the bamboo 'Great Wall' grows in a sunny to semi-shaded place, but thrives magnificently in the shade. With its teal stalks and the dark green leaves sitting on it, the bamboo 'Great Wall' is a real eye-catcher. Under optimal conditions, Fargesia nitida 'Great Wall' reaches a height of 250 to 400 centimetres and grows rather slim upwards with a width of 150 to 200 centimetres.
It survives frost unscathed and retains its attractive green foliage. The growth of the bamboo 'Great Wall' is dense and grounded. The dark green, lanceolate leaves on the teal stalks measure six to ten centimetres in length. As a deep root, Fargesia nitida 'Great Wall' develops a finely branched root system and remains without uncontrolled propagation tendency.
